Allure
I have long been aware of the life cycle of the garden and how decay is a necessary part of renewal. In fact I paraphrase it now as sex, death, birth. In the process for fertilisation and propagation I am beginning to see both overt and covert erotic characters that we recognise around us. The word allure encapsulates for me the strategy of plants to attract. in the prints we see the Prom Queen, demure and virginal formally announcing that she is now ready for suitors. At the other end of the spectrum is Trailer Trash, blatantly broadcasting open for business but with a much more tawdry edge to it. Sporty type is busily active with connections in several directions. The slightly weathered look tells us that time has been spent on the bicycle and the golf course. The dark corners of Nightclub desire prevent too close an examination and allow for events to unfold without the reality of daylight interfering. And the lipsticked dowager wants to be just as provocative. All are advertising for procreation in the way that nature decreed, no more, no less. |
